Editorial Policy
Rules governing technical source verification, commercial separation, and correction protocols.
Sources of Technical Data
Our editorial coverage relies on verified documentation provided directly by equipment manufacturers and official distributors. We cross-reference the following technical items:
- Published user manuals, schematic block diagrams, and engineering data sheets.
- Reported electrical values: gain range (dB), EIN (Equivalent Input Noise), maximum SPL, output impedance, and phantom power voltage delivery.
- Official firmware compatibility, class-compliant driver statuses, and operating system requirements.
When a manufacturer fails to publish critical electrical or acoustic specifications, we explicitly label that data point as undisclosed rather than estimating values.
Commercial Separation
GainStage Editorial maintains an absolute operational division between retail affiliate programs and editorial selection. Manufacturers and distributors cannot purchase favorable editorial coverage, alter technical comparisons, or preview copy before publication. Topic selections are based solely on reader relevance and rig-building trade-offs.
Corrections Policy
Hardware revisions, companion software updates, and pricing shifts occur frequently in direct-to-consumer audio. When published specifications change or errata are discovered in our documentation:
- We review the current official documentation to confirm the updated specification.
- We update the affected figures or compatibility warnings directly in the live article.
- We log the update date on the article to maintain transparent documentation.
